McKay is the parent company of the McKay group of companies, a leading provider of exceptional electrical services. Our group comprises of dedicated business units, each focused on delivering high-quality solutions to a diverse range of industries, throughout New Zealand and across the globe.

In 2010, McKay acquires MGE which becomes the official switchboard division. With a history spanning more than 50 years, MGE are experts in the switchboard industry, redefining the reliability and quality of switchboard products. The business was acquired by McKay in 2010 and became The McKay Group’s official switchboard division, enabling McKay to provide full electrical design and manufacturing services in-house.

McKay’s acquisition of Whangārei-based electrical contracting company Marine & Industrial Electrics Limited (MIE) brings together two established teams with a shared expertise in marine and industrial electrical services. Since April 2025, MIE’s skilled workforce has been fully integrated into McKay. The team continues to operate under the MIE brand as part of McKay’s National Marine division, with former MIE Directors Harley Freeman and Tracey Aukett continuing in management roles.
