Alex Bruintjes is McKay’s Branch Manager of Kawerau and Tauranga, bringing extensive experience in industrial electrical project delivery and operational leadership across some of New Zealand’s most technically demanding sectors. Since joining McKay in 2017, Alex has played a key role in managing complex projects and leading teams across industrial, infrastructure, and energy environments, progressing into regional leadership through his strong technical capability and practical approach to delivery.
With more than a decade of experience across leadership, supervision, and project management roles, Alex has built a broad and highly valued skill set spanning pulp and paper, water and wastewater, infrastructure, chemical processing, and geothermal power generation. His career has included managing multidisciplinary teams on large-scale industrial projects, giving him a deep understanding of the operational, technical, and safety requirements needed to successfully deliver work in complex environments.
As Branch Manager, Alex oversees operations across the Kawerau and Tauranga branches, leading teams responsible for delivering electrical projects and maintenance services safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality. He works closely with clients, engineering teams, and field personnel to ensure projects are effectively planned, coordinated, and delivered, while maintaining strong relationships and supporting long-term regional growth.
Alex works closely alongside Bay of Plenty Regional Manager Ross Rowe, collaborating to support regional operations, strengthen client partnerships, and ensure consistency in delivery across the wider Bay of Plenty region. Their combined operational and technical experience provides strong leadership across McKay’s industrial and infrastructure projects, supporting both team performance and client outcomes.
Known for his practical, hands-on leadership style, Alex combines strong technical electrical knowledge with clear communication and a calm, methodical approach to problem-solving. He is respected for his ability to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to navigate complex challenges while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and performance.
