Andreas Zaugg is McKay’s Engineering Manager, bringing more than 30 years of experience across the electrical engineering industry in both New Zealand and the United States. With extensive expertise spanning infrastructure, industrial, and marine electrical systems, Andreas plays a key role in leading McKay’s engineering capability and supporting the delivery of technically complex projects across the business.

Since joining McKay in 2007, Andreas has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of electrical design and engineering delivery, leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and supporting projects from concept through to commissioning and final handover. His experience covers electrical infrastructure design, AC/DC distribution systems, marine electrical systems, automation, switchboard integration, and large-scale industrial electrical projects.

As Engineering Manager, Andreas leads McKay’s engineering team while working closely with operational teams, project managers, clients, suppliers, and McKay’s switchboard division, MGE New Zealand Limited. He oversees the development and coordination of electrical designs, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the high technical and quality standards McKay is known for.

Andreas has extensive international marine engineering experience, including leading electrical design and integration work on large superyacht projects in the United States. His expertise includes coordinating complex systems integration, power management systems, switchboard design, automation systems, and electrical commissioning for class-approved vessels. His marine engineering background has also contributed significantly to McKay’s growing capability within the marine and vessel electrification sectors.

Alongside his engineering leadership, Andreas has played an important role in driving innovation and continuous improvement within McKay. He has supported the development and implementation of software and asset management solutions that improve operational efficiency, project coordination, and reporting across the business.

Known for his methodical and solutions-focused approach, Andreas combines deep technical knowledge with strong leadership and commercial awareness. He is highly regarded for his ability to coordinate complex projects, guide engineering teams, and maintain strong collaboration across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.

His leadership continues to strengthen McKay’s engineering capability, supporting the successful delivery of complex infrastructure, industrial, and marine projects both within New Zealand and internationally.
