Operating under the Ward Chandler brand, McKay provided the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure across three major areas of the facility.
The first area was the 200-metre short course, which required the installation of three submersible pumps, a variable speed drive (VSD), and a slider bed conveyor belt to support controlled water flow and course operation. The second area was the 300-metre long course, featuring four submersible pumps, a VSD, and a slider bed conveyor belt, enabling flexible flow rates to meet a range of operational and sporting requirements.
The third and final area involved the facility’s water treatment system. This system utilises a submersible pump and VSD to circulate water through both courses and incorporates specialised equipment to filter and sterilise the water, ensuring safe and sustainable operation of the facility.
Ward Chandler’s scope of work included the design and supply of the facility’s main switchboard and distribution boards, along with the design and installation of instrumentation and control systems for the E4M equipment throughout the site. The team also supplied and installed junction boxes and protection systems for all submersible pumps, installed circuit breakers, protective earthing, emergency stop systems, and power supplies, and completed all associated cabling and cable support systems.
The project was completed with full testing and commissioning, contributing to the successful delivery of a technically complex and highly specialised recreational facility. The work reflects Ward Chandler’s capability in delivering integrated electrical solutions for large-scale infrastructure projects, as part of McKay’s long history of engineering excellence.
